Our 2026 Community Support Award Goes to Candice Somar
Florence Bank announced it recently presented its 2026 Community Support Award to Candice Somar of Springfield, Assistant Vice President and Springfield Branch Manager.
The Community Support Award was established by the bank in 1997 as a means of formally recognizing team members who are active in the community and give their personal and professional time to local nonprofit organizations.
Each year, the award recipient selects an organization of his/her choice, and the bank donates $500 to that organization on the recipient’s behalf. Somar chose to support Ella’s Feline Rescue Mission in Springfield because she loves cats and applauds Ella’s mission.
She supports many other nonprofits in the region with her time, serving as a board member for Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity, as ambassador for East of the River Chamber of Commerce, is on the Caribbean American Heritage Committee, and as a volunteer for Revitalize CDC and Ronald McDonald House.
Somar has 27 years of banking experience and manages Florence Bank’s Allen Street branch location in Springfield, supporting business growth and community development.
“We are pleased to shine a spotlight on Candice because we are proud of all the important work she does in the community,” said Matt Garrity, President and CEO of Florence Bank. “She is a team member who actively supports and volunteers for area nonprofits, assisting the communities they serve and is well-deserving of the Community Support Award”
