Florence Bank Supports Way Finders with a $35,000 Contribution

Florence Bank has committed $35,000 to Way Finders to support its cornerstone programs aimed at strengthening housing stability and building thriving communities including Resident Services, Community Building & Engagement (CB&E), and HOMEownership (HOME).

Way Finders is the leading regional housing and community development organization serving Western Massachusetts. It offers three programs to help stabilize families, strengthen neighborhoods, and create pathways to long-term financial well-being.

Florence Bank has a long-standing commitment to community prosperity and financial stability that aligns with Way Finder’s work and mission.

“We are so grateful to have partners such as Way Finders. The more we can collaborate and share resources and outreach, the more we can do great things,” said Barbara-Jean DeLoria, Florence Bank Senior Vice President and Chief Credit Risk Officer.

Resident Services serves over 700 households and focuses on stability, connection and mobility, providing coaching, leadership, and support to help families thrive within their communities. CB&E works with residents in Springfield and Holyoke to build community connection and strong neighborhoods through advocacy, training, community events, and digital literacy workshops.

HOME has been a program Florence Bank has supported for over a decade, providing education, counseling, and coaching to help families move from renting to owning. With continued support, the program can expand to reach more households throughout Springfield, Holyoke, and the Pioneer Valley.

“On behalf of everyone at Way Finders, I want to extend our sincere thanks to Florence Bank for their generous gift and continued partnership. The ongoing support helps us expand financial education and classes for first time homebuyers, as well as strengthen opportunities for the individuals and families we serve,” said John Bidwell, Way Finder’s Chief Development Officer. “We are especially grateful not only for this investment, but for Florence Bank’s deep commitment to our community. Together, we are making a meaningful difference across the region.”

With the funds, Resident Services will expand to new communities to provide one-on-one counseling to 600 tenants. CB&E plans to have 850 participants involved in over 20 events centered around leadership, financial education, and digital access, while HOME is expected to guide 800 families through the first-time homebuying processes.

Florence Bank President and CEO Matt Garrity said, “We are proud to support Way Finders in their continued efforts of assisting individuals and families reach their financial and homeownership goals. We believe the programs they provide bring positive and equitable changes to the communities throughout the Valley.”
